I've been using my iPhone so much lately that I've found I've started to miss my little mobile iPhone internet. Typically this summer I'm on my iMac, which means I have a full keyboard and mouse all the time, but I just hopped on my MacBook and I found the experience disappointing.
The two-finger scroll on the MacBook and MacBook Pro is really cool, and it's one thing a lot of friends remark upon when I use my MacBook around them. But after a month of using my iPhone, I notice two things:
I miss the double tap and zoom. Having my web dynamically respond to how I want it is cool. I've come across a number of times where there's a flashing banner in the sidebar that I don't want to see, and it'd be great to just click on a content section, have it maximize to the window size so you can read articles a little easier.
I miss the flick. The two-finger scroll, as I mentioned, is really a slick way to scroll when you don't have a trackwheel on you, but having that inertia is great. You can just flick and let it scroll as you browse the page. Also... the flick (or the two-finger scroll) is backwards! On the iPhone, you flick down to move up and flick up to move down, but on the two-finger scroll you just trace up and down. It's disorienting if you've become acclimated to the intuitive way of the iPhone.
With all of these rumors of new trackpads in Apple's new notebooks, I wonder if there'll be more of an iPhone-related feel to it. Apple does like to keep consistent across its products... look at Cover Flow, for example. Cover Flow (the app) -> iTunes Cover Flow -> iPhone Cover Flow -> Leopard Cover Flow support for files ( -> iPod Cover Flow? )
